the Made New story

Made New Acappella was formed in January of 2010 when six members of Louisville, Kentucky’s  Newburg Church of Christ decided to come together with the simple mission of spreading the love of Christ through song. Under the original name “Indiana Singers” the six founding members: Rhonda Ray (Director/Alto) Erica Goodman (Lead), Makayla Wise (Lead), Kenneth Ray (Chaplain, Bass), Bettye Wise (Soprano) and Troy Marables (Bass, Percussion, and emeritus manager) intended to only sing locally as a small ministry, but as their ministry grew, so did their circle of influence within the brotherhood. The group revamped their mission and rebranded under the new name Made New.

Made New soon started work on their first studio album, and by June of the the following year, had released a 3 track debut EP. The group also began touring; they marked their first performance outside the region with a tour date in Dallas TX and closed out the year with an appearance at Light Up Louisville for the Mayor’s Banquet. In 2012, Made New debuted their first studio album, “The Journey,” to critical praise and stellar reviews. The group went on to win the Award for “Best New Artist” at the prestigious Christian Acappella Music Association awards. And more success followed.

Throughout 2013 and 2014 the group’s touring took them to Nebraska, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio and more.  In May of 2014, Made New competed for the first time in the “Perfect Pitch” competition and took home a first place win! In October of that same year, the group made a return to the CAMA stage: this time as featured performers.

As time progressed, lives and priorities began changing. With those changes, came a number of struggles and adjustments. Made New persevered, however, and traveled to Los Angeles California to perform at “Sing-A-Rama” A Cappella Music Conference. With any ministry, there are sure to be growing pains and situations that have to be addressed. As the ministry was growing, the dynamic was changing, both as a group and individually.  Made New decided to put the breaks on touring and focus on rebuilding and restoring the group starting with ministry from the inside out.

In June of 2016, the hard work of rebuilding and restoring created a rebirth in the form of Made New’s sophomore effort “Through The Fire” - a testimony of a group and mission renewed. The album and the music video for the standout single  “So Glad”  were met with critical success,  and the group took home the 2016 CAMA award for “Artist of the Year”

In the years following, Made New has undergone some roster changes, Troy Marables, a founding member and the group’s long-time manager, moved on to pursue other interests. The group has since added Omari Wise, Kendra Ray, and Zion Wise — bringing the group’s current roster to 8.

Like most of the world, Made New had to pause and reorganize during the pandemic but now, in 2022, the group has returned with a new lineup, a new sound, new look, and renewed vigor!    Made New is touring again, performing at local events and bringing Christ’s love in song to new audiences. Look out for a comeback album coming soon!
